Full Description

Oliver Riley, 26, from Camborne in Cornwall, was sentenced to seven years in prison at Truro Crown Court on 3 October 2025 for the rape of a woman. The assault occurred in the Camborne area in October 2022, when Riley was 23 years old.

The court was informed that Riley forced himself upon the victim during the incident. Following the attack, he was arrested by Devon and Cornwall Police but denied the charge of rape. After a trial at the Crown Court the previous month, a jury found him guilty.

Defence barrister Jason Beal described Riley as a man of previous good character, in a stable relationship, and a father to one child, with a good job and intentions to improve himself during his incarceration. However, His Honour Judge James Adkin focused on the profound impact on the victim, citing her personal statement which detailed how the rape had 'reshaped her life' and caused lasting effects.

Judge Adkin sentenced Riley to seven years' imprisonment, requiring him to serve two-thirds before release on licence. He was also placed on the sex offenders' register for life and received a restraining order to protect the victim.
