Offence Summary

Jack Tevlin pleaded guilty to making 217 indecent images of children, including category A, B, and C material depicting child sexual abuse, between June 2022 and February 2023. He was sentenced to a three-year community order with restrictions under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Full Description

Jack Tevlin, a 28-year-old resident of Pamber Heath, Tadley, has been sentenced for possessing and making over 200 indecent images of children. The case, heard at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court, involved Tevlin pleading guilty to the offence of making indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of children.

The offences occurred between 24 June 2022 and 24 February 2023. During this period, Tevlin was found in possession of 217 images, categorised into A, B, and C, with category A representing the most severe depictions of child sexual abuse. Tevlin entered his guilty plea on 1 April 2024, leading to his appearance in court on 7 May 2024.

Instead of a custodial sentence, Tevlin received a community order lasting until May 2027. This includes 120 hours of unpaid work to be completed within 12 months and 40 days of rehabilitation activities under the supervision of an officer. The court emphasised rehabilitation and prevention of reoffending through these measures.

As part of the sentencing, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order was imposed, effective until May 2030. This order prohibits Tevlin from owning, using, or controlling any internet-enabled devices, such as smartphones, computers, or tablets, without declaring them to a designated offender manager within three days of acquisition. Police inspections of these devices are mandatory, including the installation of risk management software. Restrictions also apply to broadband use, storage devices, routers, and cloud accounts, with mandatory inspections required. Tevlin is forbidden from using encryption or software to conceal internet activity, and he must seek police approval before disposing of any devices; failure to comply would breach the order.

Additionally, Tevlin is required to register as a sex offender with the police for five years, with initial reporting to Basingstoke police station commencing on 7 May 2025. The case was reported by the Basingstoke Gazette, highlighting the ongoing efforts to protect children from sexual exploitation through stringent community-based sentencing and monitoring.
