Offence Summary

Leanne Edmunds assisted her partner in making indecent images of children and engaged in bestiality, receiving a three-year community order after pleading guilty to related offences.

Full Description

Leanne Edmunds, aged 36 and partner of convicted paedophile Dean Edmunds, was sentenced alongside him at Croydon Crown Court on 21 May 2021 for her role in facilitating child sex offences and other depraved acts. While she avoided a custodial sentence, receiving a three-year community order, her involvement included helping to produce indecent photographs of children and performing a sexual act with the family dog, as captured in videos found during the police investigation.

The Metropolitan Police discovered evidence of Leanne's participation in her partner's horrific fantasies, including discussions about the abuse and joint creation of indecent material. Devices seized from the couple contained over 1.5 million images, with 6,700 being indecent images of children. Leanne pleaded guilty to making indecent photographs of children, possessing prohibited images of children, and intercourse with an animal.

  • She joined in with Dean Edmunds' abuse by helping produce child exploitation material.
  • Videos showed her engaging in bestiality with the family pet.
  • Her actions contributed to the overall depravity uncovered in the case.

Detective Sergeant Laura Davies noted the couple's shared involvement: 'Edmunds recorded his abuse of his victims, discussed it with Leanne and shared the images.' Detective Chief Inspector Dan O’Sullivan commended the investigation's thoroughness, which brought both individuals to justice through extensive review of horrific images and interagency efforts. The case highlighted Leanne's complicity in enabling and participating in the offences, though her sentence reflected a non-custodial outcome.

The impact on victims and families remains profound, with the community order imposed on Leanne serving as accountability for her actions without immediate imprisonment. This sentencing occurred in the context of a broader investigation into Dean Edmunds' primary offences, underscoring the couple's joint responsibility in the exploitation.
