A voyeur from Cambridge has been imprisoned after secretly filming a woman's private moments in Stevenage. Paul Norris, aged 67 and residing on Lynton Way in Sawston, was convicted of voyeurism at Peterborough Crown Court. The offences took place between March 10, 2017, and August 28, 2018, during which Norris recorded the victim's intimate sexual acts without her knowledge or consent.

The case came to light when the victim was alerted by another woman whom Norris had also been secretly recording. This revelation prompted her to report the matter to the authorities. Despite Norris denying the charges, a jury found him guilty in July of this year following a trial at Peterborough Crown Court. On October 10, he was sentenced to eight months behind bars, a punishment that underscores the severity of breaching someone's privacy in such an invasive manner.

In addition to the custodial sentence, Judge [name not specified] imposed a 10-year restraining order to protect the victim from further contact. Norris was also made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), designed to restrict his behaviour and mitigate risks to the public. He will be required to sign in regularly at a police station as part of ongoing monitoring.

Detective Constable Alex Willians of Hertfordshire Constabulary commented on the case, stating: 'Norris' actions violated the victim's right to privacy, and he has shown no remorse towards her.' The officer praised the victim's courage throughout the legal process and her desire to raise awareness about such predatory behaviour. 'The victim has been supportive throughout the court process, and she was keen to make other women aware of this type of detestable behaviour,' Willians added. He encouraged anyone suspecting they are being recorded to report it immediately, emphasising the police's commitment to safeguarding victims and prosecuting offenders.
