Full Description

A 36-year-old man from Amlwch, North Wales, has been imprisoned for raping a teenage girl. Robert Llewellyn Price appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court on Thursday, 6 June 2024, where he was sentenced to six years and eight months' imprisonment for two counts of rape. In addition to his custodial sentence, Price was ordered to register as a sex offender for life.

The victim, who was 16 years old at the time of the offences, reported the incidents to North Wales Police in April 2024. According to court proceedings, Price had twice lured the girl to his home, where he raped her on both occasions. Following the assaults, the victim expressed concern to Price that she might be pregnant, to which he responded by warning her that he would 'be in trouble' if she told anyone about what had happened.

After the victim bravely came forward to report the crimes, Price fled the scene but was subsequently located and arrested by police on a cliffside in Amlwch. He was remanded into custody following his arrest. Detective Sergeant Mark Dickson of North Wales Police commended the victim's courage, stating: 'This was a horrific incident for this young girl, who demonstrated exceptional bravery in coming forward to report Price’s crimes. I commend her courage in doing so, and her strength throughout the entirety of the case. I hope she can now focus on moving forward with her life, with the knowledge that Price is now being held accountable for these disgraceful assaults.'

The case forms part of Operation Unite, North Wales Police's initiative to tackle violence against women and girls. Dickson further encouraged other victims of sexual abuse to report incidents, assuring them: 'I would encourage any victim of sexual abuse to come forward, safe in the knowledge that we will do everything in our power to pursue offenders.' This sentencing underscores the authorities' commitment to prosecuting sexual offences and protecting vulnerable individuals in the community.
