Full Description

A Colchester man has been sentenced to six years in prison for a series of sex offences committed against a young woman over a prolonged period. Wanderson Teixeira, aged 41 and previously residing on Ipswich Road in Colchester, was described in court as a 'monster' who left his victim feeling worthless and dehumanised.

The abuse, which lasted two-and-a-half years, involved Teixeira sending the victim explicit pictures and videos, indecently exposing himself to her, and coercing her into performing sex acts. As a delivery driver, Teixeira exploited the victim's fear, ramping up his actions when he realised she was too afraid to report him. The offences included four counts of exposure, two counts each of causing a child to watch a sexual act, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, and causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, along with eight further counts of sexual offences.

Teixeira initially denied the allegations but confessed to the full litany of offences just days before his trial was due to begin at Chelmsford Crown Court. The case came to light after the victim confided in a close friend, leading to his arrest by Essex Police. In a victim impact statement read to the court, she stated: 'He has been a monster in my life. A monster that has repeatedly made me feel worthless and like a piece of meat. He has changed my life forever. I'm not the same person any longer and sadly I will never be again.'

Mitigating, barrister Conall Bailie noted that Teixeira, who arrived in the UK from Brazil 17 years ago, accepted his actions were 'sick and disgusting'. Teixeira reportedly told his legal team: 'I was in a very bad place. I was drinking and taking drugs. I was completely lost.' Despite this, the court imposed a six-year custodial sentence, with an additional four years on licence upon release. Teixeira was also placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely and subjected to an indefinite restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim.

The sentencing was reported by the Gazette and Herald, based on coverage from Chelmsford Crown Court proceedings, highlighting the severity of the sexual exploitation and the long-term impact on the victim.
