Offence Summary

Andrew Dale Iveson was jailed for 20 years after being convicted of multiple child sex offences and rapes against a young girl he abused from 2005 to 2013 when she was under 10 years old.

Full Description

Andrew Dale Iveson, a 48-year-old man from Anchorage Hill in Richmond, North Yorkshire, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the prolonged sexual abuse of a young girl. The abuse began in 2005 when the victim was under 10 years old and continued until 2013, spanning nearly a decade of horrific exploitation.

Iveson faced a total of 25 charges at Teesside Crown Court, including nine child sex offences, 11 counts of rape, and five other sexual offences. Despite denying the allegations, he was found guilty following a trial. In addition to his custodial sentence, Iveson was placed on the sex offenders register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring upon any future release.

Detective Inspector Shaun Page of North Yorkshire Police, who led the investigation, described the case as the 'most horrific' abuse he had encountered in his 19 years of service. Speaking after the sentencing, Page stated: 'The ordeal he put his victim through when she should have been enjoying her childhood was downright evil and I can only describe him as a monster.' He praised the victim's bravery in coming forward, noting that her courage had ensured that 'a vile and dangerous paedophile has been jailed for a long period of time.' The police characterised Iveson as a 'vile paedophile' and a 'downright evil' individual whose actions destroyed the victim's childhood.

The case was investigated by North Yorkshire Police, with the sentencing taking place at Teesside Crown Court. This conviction highlights the severe consequences for those committing child sex offences, providing some measure of justice for the victim after years of trauma.
