Full Description

A 77-year-old pensioner from Newton St Faith's, near Norwich, has been sentenced to four years in prison for a series of child sex offences. Arnold Fox appeared at Norwich Crown Court, where he admitted to taking indecent photographs of a child, exposing himself, and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. The case was heard before Judge Anthony Bate, who described Fox as having a 'dark side' to his character despite appearing kind and generous to the outside world.

Prosecutor Duncan O'Donnell outlined the details during the hearing, stating that indecent images were found on Fox's phone when he was arrested by Norfolk Constabulary. The images had been taken by Fox himself, confirming his direct involvement in the offences. Fox, who arrived at court using a walker due to health issues, showed no immediate resistance during the proceedings.

Judge Bate imposed the four-year custodial sentence, placing Fox on the sex offenders' register for life and subjecting him to a sexual harm prevention order. Defence counsel John Morgans spoke on Fox's behalf, noting his poor health and expressing genuine remorse: 'He is someone who is not in robust health. He is genuinely remorseful.'

The offences came to light through an investigation by Norfolk Constabulary, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat child sexual exploitation in the region. This case serves as a stark reminder of the hidden dangers posed by individuals in positions of trust or familiarity.
