Full Description

Rhys Cutler, a 20-year-old man from Swindon, was sentenced at Swindon Crown Court on 19 February 2025 following his guilty plea to charges related to sexual offences against a minor.

The offences occurred between 4 May and 8 May 2024, when Cutler engaged in sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl on three separate occasions. Additionally, on 13 June 2024, he breached a 10-year sexual risk order that had been imposed by Swindon Magistrates' Court on 1 May 2024. The breach involved Cutler contacting another 13-year-old girl.

Originally, Cutler was scheduled to stand trial on 9 December 2024 for more serious charges, including three counts of rape, one count of causing a 13-year-old girl to look at a sexually explicit image, and the breach of the sexual risk order. However, the prosecution offered an alternative resolution, amending the indictment to reduce the rape allegations to three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a teenager, retaining the breach charge, and dropping the explicit image charge. This avoided the need for a full trial.

Upon pleading guilty in December 2024, Cutler was jailed for four years and six months. A sexual harm prevention order was also imposed for 10 years to protect the public from further harm. The case was heard at Swindon Crown Court, with reporting by Chloe Tuff for the Swindon Advertiser.
