Full Description

A 63-year-old man from Liverpool, Mark Harrison, has been imprisoned for two years following his guilty pleas to multiple serious sexual offences. The case, which unfolded at Liverpool Crown Court, highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat child sexual exploitation and non-consensual recording.

Harrison, residing on Sheil Road in the Kensington area of Liverpool, was arrested in March 2022 after police received intelligence prompting a search warrant at his home. Officers seized several digital devices during the operation, which were subsequently subjected to forensic examination. The analysis revealed a cache of illicit material, including six charges of possessing indecent photographs of children across Categories A, B, and C—the most severe classifications under UK law for such content. Additionally, Harrison faced five charges for recording images under clothing without consent, commonly known as upskirting, and one charge related to possessing extreme pornographic images.

Pleading guilty to all counts, Harrison appeared for sentencing on Monday, 3 February 2025, at Liverpool Crown Court. The judge imposed a two-year custodial sentence, reflecting the gravity of the offences and the need to protect vulnerable individuals from such predatory behaviour. The prosecution emphasised the harmful impact of these crimes, particularly the possession and distribution of child abuse imagery, which perpetuates victimisation.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Atkinson of Merseyside Police commented on the conviction, underscoring the force's commitment to safeguarding communities. This case serves as a stark reminder of the vigilance required to identify and prosecute those engaging in sexual offences against children and without consent.
