Offence Summary

Kye Dunn raped a vulnerable child in early secondary school after providing them with cannabis and alcohol, then pushed the victim into another room where his brother assaulted them.

Full Description

Two brothers, Kye Dunn and Robbie Dunn, have been imprisoned for committing sexual offences against a vulnerable child in Dover. The incidents occurred in December 2017, when Kye Dunn, then aged 19, targeted the victim who was in the early years of secondary school.

The court at Canterbury Crown Court heard that Kye Dunn supplied the child with cannabis and alcohol before taking them to his home in Westbury Road, Dover. There, he raped the victim. Following the rape, Kye Dunn pushed the vulnerable child into another room, where Robbie Dunn, aged 17 at the time and also residing at the address, sexually assaulted the child while they were asleep.

Both brothers pleaded guilty to their respective charges. Kye Dunn admitted to rape and was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years' imprisonment on 3 December 2021. The case was investigated by the Missing Child and Exploitation Team, with Detective Constable Helen Press, now retired, leading the inquiry. She stated: "Kye and Robbie Dunn took advantage of a child who was much younger than them for their own sexual gratification, and put the victim through a terrible ordeal that will likely remain with them for the rest of their life." Press further emphasised the brothers' deserving punishment and praised the victim's bravery in reporting the crimes, hoping it would encourage others.

The offences highlight the exploitation of vulnerable young people, with the court ensuring custodial sentences to reflect the severity of the sexual abuse committed.
