Colin Robinson engaged in explicit online conversations with who he believed was a 13-year-old girl, sending indecent videos and attempting to arrange a meeting, unaware he was speaking to an undercover officer.

Full Description

Colin Robinson, 75, from Borough Road, Seacombe, initiated filthy online conversations in September 2019 with an individual he believed to be a 13-year-old girl named Lucy. The retired Cammell Lairds worker encouraged her to skip school, sent an indecent video of himself, and expressed desires to seduce her, even commenting that her location in Manchester meant 'you are now in big trouble, it's just down the M57' when suggesting a meet-up.

Unbeknownst to Robinson, 'Lucy' was an undercover police officer. He was arrested and admitted five offences at Liverpool Crown Court, including attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act, attempting to incite a child to engage in a sexual act, and attempted sexual communication.

Sentenced to two years in prison, Robinson's actions demonstrated clear intent to groom and exploit a child. The Liverpool Echo's 17 July 2021 article praised the police operation that prevented potential harm and brought the Wirral grandad to justice.
