Nicholas Peel was convicted of raping a woman four times and attempting to rape her once between 2015 and 2020. He was sentenced to nine years in prison and placed on the Sex Offenders' Register indefinitely.

Full Description

Nicholas Peel, a 55-year-old man formerly residing in Marlborough, Wiltshire, but now living in Rochford, Essex, was jailed for nine years following his conviction for multiple counts of rape and attempted rape. The offences occurred between 2015 and 2020, during which Peel targeted a woman in her 50s known to him, subjecting her to repeated sexual violence.

The case came to light through an investigation led by Wiltshire Police's Central CID. Peel was found guilty after a trial at Salisbury Crown Court in March 2026, where the jury heard evidence of four instances of rape and one attempted rape. The victim demonstrated remarkable courage by providing statements and giving evidence, which was instrumental in securing the conviction despite Peel's denials.

Sentencing took place on 13 April 2026 at Winchester Crown Court. In addition to the nine-year custodial sentence, Peel was required to sign the Sex Offenders' Register indefinitely. Investigating officer DC Jo Newbery commended the victim's bravery, stating: 'I’d like to praise the victim in this case for having the courage and conviction to see this case through, which has resulted in Nicholas Peel being jailed for his abhorrent actions. Peel repeatedly targeted her and raped her over a number of years, and then denied the offences, forcing her to relive the experiences through a trial.' This case underscores the ongoing efforts by Wiltshire Police to support victims of sexual offences and bring perpetrators to justice.
