Full Description

Paul Logan, a 46-year-old resident of Chirton Green in Blyth, Northumberland, was sentenced to 11 years and six months in prison for committing vile child sex offences. The case came to light years after the crimes occurred when the victim bravely reported the abuse to Northumbria Police.

Logan was convicted at Newcastle Crown Court of two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault. The offences involved the rape and sexual abuse of a child, which had a profound and lasting impact on the victim. Following the report, officers conducted a complex investigation, during which Logan was questioned but denied any wrongdoing.

Despite his denials, Logan was charged last summer with a string of sexual offences. He appeared in court in October, where a jury found him guilty on all counts. The sentencing took place on 12 December 2025, bringing justice to the victim after years of silence.

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police stated: "After living with the effects of Logan’s offending, the victim bravely came forward and made a report to police years later. Logan was quickly questioned by officers but denied any wrongdoing in interview. Following a complex police investigation, last summer, Logan, of Chirton Green, Blyth, was charged with a string of sexual offences."

The case highlights the challenges in investigating historical child sex offences but underscores the determination of Northumbria Police in pursuing justice. ChronicleLive reported the details of the trial and sentencing, emphasising the severity of the crimes committed in the Northumberland area.
