Full Description

Jamie Elliott, a 36-year-old man from Egham in Surrey, has been convicted and jailed for a series of horrific sexual offences against a young girl under the age of 13. The abuse, which spanned five years, involved repeated acts of rape and sexual assault, exploiting a position of trust in the victim's life.

Following a trial at Guildford Crown Court, Elliott was found guilty on 16 December 2025 of three counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13. Additional convictions included one count of assault of a child under 13 by penetration, one count of sexual assault, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. Surrey Police detailed how Elliott groomed his victim by providing her with alcohol and gifts, which facilitated the sustained abuse.

The crimes came to light when explicit text messages were discovered on the victim's phone, prompting an investigation by Surrey Police. On Monday, following the guilty verdict, Elliott was sentenced to 17 years' imprisonment at the same court, with an extended licence period of five years and placement on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Detective Constable Hollie Grant, the investigating officer from Surrey Police, described the case as a 'catalogue of sustained abuse over five years'. She stated: 'Elliott carried out a catalogue of sustained abuse over five years, betraying his position of trust in the victim's life to carry out these crimes. I hope that his time in prison will allow him the opportunity to find some remorse for his despicable actions.'

The case underscores the devastating impact of grooming and sexual exploitation within trusted relationships, as reported by BBC News and Surrey Police.
