Offence Summary

A DPD driver sexually assaulted five women during a two-day crime spree in Leicester.

Full Description

Ionut Torodoc, a 37-year-old DPD delivery driver based in Leicester, was convicted on 15 November 2024 for sexually assaulting five women in a rapid two-day crime spree. The assaults occurred while he was on duty, abusing his role to target vulnerable individuals.

The incidents unfolded in November 2024, with Torodoc approaching women under false pretences related to his deliveries before carrying out the assaults. Leicestershire Police launched an immediate investigation following reports from the victims, using CCTV footage and witness statements to identify and apprehend him swiftly.

In court, the prosecution outlined the pattern of predatory behaviour, with one victim quoted as saying, 'He used his job to gain access, and it was terrifying.' The judge condemned the brazen nature of the crimes, resulting in a custodial sentence to reflect the severity and the breach of public trust in delivery services.
