Offence Summary

Aslam Masood, 51, was jailed for 15 months after admitting an offence of adult sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 17.

Full Description

A Bradford man has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for a sexual offence against a teenage girl. Aslam Masood, aged 51, of the Lister Hills area of Bradford, appeared at Leeds Crown Court on Monday 1 June 2026 and pleaded guilty to an offence of adult sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 17. The offence took place in Kirklees on 20 February 2024 and was reported to police two days later.

In addition to the custodial sentence, Masood was made subject to a five-year sexual harm prevention order. The court heard how the survivor showed remarkable courage in coming forward and supporting the investigation. Her bravery was commended by specialist safeguarding officers from Kirklees, who investigated the case.

DC O’Donnell of the Kirklees Adult Safeguarding Unit said: "The victim in this case showed real courage in coming forwards and reporting this offence which we know left her with long term psychological scars." The officer added: "Thanks to her bravery in making a report and supporting an investigation and prosecution, Masood has been made to answer for his offending, and we hope she can take some comfort from seeing him sentenced."

The case underlines West Yorkshire Police's commitment to tackling sexual offending and supporting victims. DC O’Donnell urged all victims to come forward, stating: "All reports are investigated by specially trained detectives who can also signpost victims to any support services they may need."
