Full Description

Mahdi Ferhane, a 40-year-old taxi driver from Bournemouth, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl during a fare. The abuse of his position of trust shocked the community.

The assault occurred while the girl was returning home late at night; Ferhane deviated from the route and touched her inappropriately. She escaped at a stop and contacted Dorset Police, who traced the taxi via GPS and CCTV. Ferhane was arrested at his depot.

The trial revealed Ferhane's exploitation of the vulnerable passenger. The judge commented, 'As a driver, you were entrusted with her safety, which you betrayed horrifically.' Charged with sexual assault under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, evidence included the victim's distress and physical traces.
