Full Description

A 73-year-old man from York has been jailed for 17 and a half years following his conviction for multiple historic sexual offences against vulnerable victims. Paul Kenneth Lamb was found guilty by a jury at Hull Crown Court of 19 non-recent sexual offences, with the crimes spanning the 1970s in London and the 1980s in North Yorkshire, Hull, and the East Riding of Yorkshire area. Lamb had earlier pleaded guilty to additional charges concerning indecent images discovered on his digital device during the investigation.

The case, which came to light through a dedicated police inquiry, highlights the ongoing commitment to pursuing justice for historic sexual abuse. Detective Superintendent Phil Gadd, who led the investigation for Humberside Police, described Lamb's actions as 'sickening and incomprehensible' and praised the victims for their bravery. 'I am pleased Lamb was found guilty for his sickening and incomprehensible actions against vulnerable victims and that he will now serve a very long time behind bars,' Gadd stated. He emphasised the force's prioritisation of victims, noting, 'The victim is at the highest level of our priorities. There is nowhere for perpetrators to hide, we will pursue them relentlessly.'

The investigation, which lasted over two years, involved meticulous evidence gathering to build a robust case. Gadd commended the victims' 'dignity and courage' throughout the process, acknowledging the trauma they had carried since childhood. 'We take all reports of sexual abuse seriously and regardless of how much time has passed, we will seek justice for those who have been affected,' he added. The sentencing on 8th May 2021 marks a significant step towards closure for the victims, ensuring Lamb's imprisonment for his crimes.
