Offence Summary

Stanislaw Blaszczuk was sentenced for two unprovoked sexual assaults on lone women in St Helens, involving intentional non-consensual touching. He received suspended prison sentences, rehabilitation requirements, and must register as a sex offender for seven years.

Full Description

A 61-year-old man from Huyton has avoided immediate imprisonment after being sentenced for two separate sexual assaults on women in St Helens. Stanislaw Blaszczuk appeared before Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, October 14, where he pleaded guilty to the offences.

The first incident occurred on Corporation Street on Monday, May 19, when Blaszczuk intentionally touched a woman without her consent. The second took place on Prescot Road on Saturday, June 28, involving a similar unprovoked attack on another lone female. Court records described the offences as 'so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified' due to their nature and the significant impact on the victims.

For the Prescot Road assault, magistrates imposed a four-month prison term, suspended for 18 months. A consecutive two-month suspended sentence was added for the Corporation Street incident, along with a concurrent four-week suspended term for failing to surrender to custody on October 10. Blaszczuk was also ordered to complete up to 20 days of rehabilitation activity and 150 hours of unpaid work within 12 months. He must pay £400 in costs and a £154 surcharge.

Further measures include a seven-year notification requirement, compelling Blaszczuk to register with police as a sex offender. Restraining orders were issued, prohibiting contact with either victim for three years. The court declined to award compensation, noting it would be 'inappropriate in the circumstances and complainants would find it insulting'. These details were reported in the St Helens Star, based on court proceedings and official records.
