Mark McMillan, a 46-year-old bodybuilder from Ayrshire, Scotland, was found guilty at the High Court in Kilmarnock on 15 December 2025 of committing multiple savage sexual assaults against three former partners between January 2022 and July 2023. The attacks, which involved repeated rape, strangulation, and physical beatings, terrorised his victims and left them with severe injuries, including internal bleeding and unconsciousness.
The first victim endured rapes at addresses in Stevenston from January to December 2022. McMillan overpowered her using his physical strength, subjecting her to brutal assaults that escalated in violence. Court proceedings detailed how he manipulated and controlled his partners before turning to physical abuse, often fuelled by his severe cocaine habit.
Between June and September 2022, McMillan repeatedly raped a second woman, strangling her and striking her on the head and body during the attacks. His third victim, Lynne-Marie Hand, met McMillan in January 2023. He quickly moved into her home after fabricating a sob story about lacking utilities. The abuse began shortly after, with McMillan attacking her in bed, stamping on her in a drug-induced rage when he could not locate his cocaine, and refusing to leave despite her attempts to end the relationship. Lynne-Marie Hand described the ordeal in an interview with the Daily Record, stating, 'He had a severe cocaine habit and one night he started attacking me in bed and stamping on me because he couldn't find his drugs and I wouldn't give him cash to buy more.' She recounted how the rapes became frequent, often starting while she slept, with McMillan choking her unconscious during the acts. 'I lost a lot of weight while I was with him and he was a huge, powerful bodybuilder. I knew he could have killed me very easily and I was terrified that I would die at his hands. He is a monster,' she added.
One particularly vicious assault in July 2023 left Lynne-Marie with internal injuries, prompting her to evict McMillan with police and Women's Aid support, including the installation of CCTV for her safety. Discovering a phone he left behind with messages from his other victims, she contacted them and encouraged them to report to the police, leading to all three coming forward. McMillan was remanded in custody following his conviction and is scheduled for sentencing at the High Court in Edinburgh on 21 January 2026. Lynne-Marie urged authorities to impose a lengthy prison term, saying, 'He raped and attacked three women in a year and no jail sentence can be long enough. What he has put me and his other two victims through will live with us forever.'
The case, reported by Yorkshire Live and the Daily Record, highlights McMillan's pattern of predatory behaviour, with Hand waiving her anonymity to warn others of the danger he poses if released. She shared images of her injuries, including bruises to her arms, face, and body, to raise awareness and protect the public.
