Offence Summary

Wahid Bik, a pizza delivery driver, groomed three teenage girls by offering them vapes, alcohol, and drugs before sexually assaulting two of them and raping one in his car over a month-long period.

Full Description

Wahid Bik, a 43-year-old pizza delivery driver from Solihull, was convicted at Birmingham Crown Court of multiple serious sexual offences against three vulnerable teenage girls. Operating in the areas of Solihull and Shirley, Bik targeted the girls between December 2021 and January 2022, exploiting their youth and vulnerability through grooming tactics that involved providing alcohol, cannabis, and vapes to gain their trust.

The offences began in November 2021 when Bik first encountered his initial victim, a 13-year-old girl walking home alone. He pulled up in his car, engaged her in conversation, and offered her alcohol and cannabis during that initial meeting, marking the start of a calculated effort to build rapport. Judge Andrew Smith KC, during sentencing, remarked: 'You chose girls who were at a vulnerable stage in their teenage lives.' Bik obtained the girls' phone numbers and began messaging them, positioning himself as an essential figure in their lives by lavishing compliments—telling one she resembled a 'supermodel' and another that she was a 'pretty lady'—while supplying prohibited substances.

  • In December 2021, Bik arranged to meet two 14-year-old girls, collected them, and plied them with alcohol until they were severely intoxicated. He then drove them to a secluded location, climbed into the back seat, and carried out a sexual assault on one of them.
  • Just over a week later, on the night of 30-31 January 2022, Bik took two other girls, aged 14 and 13, to another secluded spot. After supplying them with alcohol, he began by touching one on the leg during the journey, progressed to kissing her, and then committed more serious sexual attacks, including twice raping the 13-year-old girl. One victim attempted to seek help via her phone, but Bik confiscated it; however, another managed to message a friend, leading to his arrest with the girls still in his vehicle.

Prosecutor Antonie Muller highlighted the aggravating factors, stating: 'He used alcohol and other intoxicants. It is an aggravating feature that there were other people in the car and he himself was intoxicated.' The judge emphasised the profound impact on the victims and their families, noting: 'It has made them feel unsafe and left them with emotional scars that will be difficult, at the very least, to heal.' Bik demonstrated no remorse, and his actions revealed a sustained pattern of behaviour involving significant planning, even after prior offences just weeks earlier.

Following a trial, Bik was found guilty of two charges of rape, two of attempted rape, three of sexual assault, and two other serious sexual offences. Judge Smith sentenced him to 22 years in prison, describing the arrest as resulting from 'chance.' Defence counsel Abigail Nixon portrayed Bik as 'effectively of good character' who had immigrated, obtained a university degree, and held good employment, but this did little to mitigate the severity of his crimes. The case was reported by Birmingham Live on 10 February 2023, based on court proceedings at Birmingham Crown Court.
