Donald Gordon

Donald Gordon, a 62-year-old resident of Blaina, was sentenced to five years imprisonment at Cardiff Crown Court following his conviction for multiple child sexual assaults. The court heard that Gordon had abused a young victim over several years, with the offences taking place in Cwmbran between 2011 and 2016. Despite denying the charges, a jury found him guilty on all five counts of sexual assault of a child under the age of 13 after a trial.

The case came to light through the bravery of the victim, who provided crucial testimony that led to Gordon's prosecution. Detective Constable Samantha Davies, the lead officer in the investigation from Gwent Police, highlighted the victim's courage in facing her abuser in court. In addition to the custodial sentence, which comprised three years in prison followed by two years on extended licence, Gordon was required to register as a sex offender for five years.
