Offence Summary

Alexander Blowers, a 41-year-old man from Cambridge, raped and sexually assaulted a child and created indecent images of the child. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison with an additional five years on licence.

Full Description

A father and son duo, Victor Blowers and his son Alexander, were convicted of horrific sexual offences against the same child in a case that came to light through the bravery of the victim confiding in a teacher.

The abuse was uncovered when the child told their teacher about a man using a mobile phone to take inappropriate photographs of them. This prompted an investigation that initially focused on Victor Blowers, but further enquiries revealed that his son, Alexander Blowers, 41, from Morello Place, Cambridge, had also sexually abused the child.

  • Alexander Blowers pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault, one count of rape, and creating indecent images of a child.
  • The court heard that the child was driven to secluded spots by the father and son, where the abuse occurred, including the child being sandwiched between them in the backseat of a car before the assaults took place, and that the child was raped by Alexander.

At Ipswich Crown Court, Alexander was sentenced to 20 years in prison, with an additional five years to be served on licence. The combined sentence for Alexander and his father totalled 32 years, underscoring the gravity of the repeated sexual exploitation of the child.
