Full Description

Graham Joseph Stridgeon, 64, also known as Tony Gordon from Fleetwood, Lancashire, has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison at Mold Crown Court for three counts of historic sexual assaults on a teenage boy at the notorious Bryn Alyn Hall children’s home near Wrexham, where he was a resident over 40 years ago. Stridgeon admitted the charges at an earlier hearing.

Judge Rhys Rowlands stated that Stridgeon had evaded justice for many years but, despite learning difficulties, knew the harm he caused. He was placed on the sexual offenders register for life, with two other assaults left on record. North Wales Police's investigation into historical care home abuses brought this case to light.

The sentencing increases an unduly lenient prior term, ensuring appropriate punishment for serious child sexual assaults in institutional settings.
