Offence Summary

Hamza Javed posed as a healthcare professional to gain entry into an elderly woman's home in Slough and sexually assaulted her. He was sentenced to one year and two months in prison after pleading guilty to the offence.

Full Description

A man from Slough has been imprisoned for sexually assaulting an elderly woman after deceiving her by pretending to be a carer. Hamza Javed, aged 27 and residing in Goodman Park, targeted the vulnerable victim in her own home during 2024, exploiting her trust in healthcare services.

The incident occurred when Javed entered the woman's Slough residence under false pretences, posing as a healthcare professional. He then carried out a sexual assault, leaving the victim and her family deeply distressed. Thames Valley Police investigated the matter swiftly, arresting Javed on 28 November 2024 and charging him with sexual assault the following day. At Reading Magistrates’ Court on 30 November 2024, Javed pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault on a female.

His sentencing took place at Reading Crown Court on 28 February 2025, where he received a custodial sentence of one year and two months. Detective Constable Aaron Lancaster, the investigating officer from Thames Valley Police, commented on the case: “This was a horrible offence, and I am pleased that Javed has pleaded guilty and has been sentenced to prison as a result. He callously navigated his way into his victim’s home and took advantage of her. This was an incredibly distressing incident for the victim and their family and tarnishes the trust the public place in the care industry.” Lancaster also praised the victim's strength, noting: “The victim and her family have shown great strength and composure throughout this investigation, and I would like to thank them for putting their trust in Thames Valley Police to bring Javed to justice.”

The case underscores Thames Valley Police's commitment to addressing violence against women and girls, with Lancaster affirming: “We are committed to tackling all forms of violence against women and girls, and we will relentlessly pursue and prosecute offenders and put them before the courts where they belong.” This incident highlights the dangers of impersonation in vulnerable settings and the importance of vigilance in community care.
