Full Description

Mohammed Shezad Hussain, aged 39, was one of the key figures in the sexual exploitation of a vulnerable child in Bradford from 2002 to 2004. The offences against the victim, aged 13 to 16 and in local authority care, included rape and indecent assault, contributing to her profound trauma.

Convicted after the third trial on 11 June 2025 of three counts of indecent assault and two counts of rape, Hussain's case was prosecuted by the CPS’s specialist unit in tandem with West Yorkshire Police. The trials revealed how the victim was passed around and treated with disregard by the group.

On 3 October 2025, he received a sentence of 12 years' imprisonment at Bradford Crown Court, as reporting restrictions were removed. This outcome was celebrated as a step towards justice, with the victim's evidence pivotal. Specialist Prosecutor Martin McRobb said: “Despite this trauma, she has shown extraordinary courage and resilience in coming forward and remaining engaged throughout this lengthy legal process.” The case demonstrates the effectiveness of dedicated units in handling complex child sexual abuse prosecutions.
