Full Description

A former teacher from Longsight has been imprisoned following his admission of guilt in a serious sexual assault case. Andre Holder, aged 26, targeted and raped a 17-year-old boy in Stretford, weaving a network of deceit to conceal his actions over several months.

The incident, which occurred in Stretford, came to light through an investigation by Greater Manchester Police's Public Protection Division. Holder, who had been employed as a teacher in the area, did not perpetrate the crime in connection with his professional role, but his position of trust has raised concerns within the community. Despite initially denying the allegations even in the face of substantial evidence, Holder eventually pleaded guilty to the charge of rape.

On 4 December, Holder was sentenced at court to five years' imprisonment. In addition to his custodial sentence, he has been mandated to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life, ensuring ongoing monitoring by authorities. The sentencing reflects the gravity of the offence and aims to provide some measure of justice for the victim.

Detective Constable Sue Gallogly from Greater Manchester Police commented on the case, stating: 'First of all I would like to commend the bravery of the victim, this has understandably been an incredibly difficult time for him. Andre Holder refused to admit what he had done right up until his trial, even in the face of overwhelming evidence. Holder targeted his victim over a number of months and spun a web of lies to cover up what he was doing. No one could have predicted the danger the victim was in however.' Gallogly further emphasised the importance of reporting such crimes, noting that Holder's background as a teacher underscores the need for vigilance.

This case highlights the hidden dangers that can lurk in unexpected places, particularly when individuals in positions of authority exploit their proximity to vulnerable young people. Greater Manchester Police's involvement ensured a thorough investigation, leading to Holder's conviction and removal from society for the duration of his sentence.
