Offence Summary

Christopher Kofi Taylor was sentenced to life imprisonment for raping a 15-year-old girl multiple times, trespassing with intent to commit a sexual offence, and assaulting her under section 47.

Full Description

On 23 August 2021, officers from Greater Manchester Police were called to an address in Trafford shortly after 6am following reports of an attack on a 15-year-old girl in what was described as an isolated incident. The victim had been subjected to a violent and predatory assault by Christopher Kofi Taylor, a man from Salford.

Taylor, born on 26 December 1975, carried out four counts of rape against the female under 16, along with trespassing with the intent to commit a sexual offence and a section 47 assault. These offences occurred in Trafford, highlighting the vulnerability of the young victim and the shocking nature of Taylor's actions.

The case proceeded to Manchester Crown Court, where Taylor pleaded guilty to all charges. On Tuesday, 5 March 2024, he was sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of 11 years and four months before being eligible for parole. This severe sentence reflects the gravity of the sexual offences committed against a minor.

Detective Constable Emma Bentley from Greater Manchester Police commented on the case, stating: “Taylor’s treatment of a vulnerable young female was shocking and deplorable. Predatory behaviour like this should never be tolerated and eradicating it is a top priority.” She also praised the victim's courage: “Her courage to come forward and give evidence has enabled us to pursue this prosecution. Though these offences have a lasting impact on victims, it is my hope this result provides some sense of closure.”

The prosecution was handled by Greater Manchester Police, underscoring their commitment to addressing sexual exploitation and violence against children in the region. This case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable individuals from such predatory crimes.
