Offence Summary

Tomasz Adam Boron sexually assaulted a woman by attempting to touch her below the waist outside a Southampton pub while intoxicated. He pleaded guilty and faces potential imprisonment, with sentencing pending.

Full Description

On the evening of 4 August 2018, Tomasz Adam Boron, a 38-year-old man from Millbrook Road East in Southampton, committed a sexual assault outside The London Hotel on Oxford Street. After a night of drinking with colleagues, Boron approached a woman who was waiting outside the bar and twice attempted to touch her below the waist with his hand. The victim, a stranger to Boron, pleaded with him to stop, but he grinned at her as she took a photograph of him for evidence to provide to the police.

The incident was witnessed by bouncers at the bar, who intervened and asked Boron to leave the premises. The woman shouted at him twice to cease his actions, prompting the security staff's involvement. Following the assault, the victim contacted the police, and Boron waited outside the bar until officers arrived around 10:30pm, at which point he was arrested without resistance.

During his police interview, Boron admitted to attempting to sexually touch the woman. At Southampton Magistrates' Court on 24 October 2018, he pleaded guilty to the charge of sexual assault on a female. Prosecutor Ryan Seneviratne described the offence as a serious sexual assault on a stranger outside a bar, emphasising that all sentencing options, including prison, should remain open to the court. The court heard that Boron woke the next morning with a hangover and began to recall the events, expressing deep remorse.

Mitigating, Will Day acknowledged that Boron had made a 'horrible mistake' and committed a 'very nasty offence' against the young lady. He noted Boron's shame and willingness to accept any punishment. As a result of his guilty plea, Boron will be required to sign on to the sex offenders' register. A pre-sentence report was ordered by the probation team to assess his behaviour, with sentencing scheduled for the following month at the same court. The case was reported by Clive Hammond, Court Reporter for the Daily Echo, highlighting the victim's quick thinking in capturing photographic evidence that led to Boron's swift arrest.
