Offence Summary

Bradley Hughes was jailed for 24 years after being found guilty of raping, sexually assaulting and psychologically abusing two women.

Full Description

Bradley Hughes, 35, from Woking, was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on 30 April 2026 to 24 years' imprisonment with an eight-year extended licence period. He was convicted following a three-week trial of three counts of rape, one count of coercive and controlling behaviour, one count of stalking, and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The offences took place in 2022 and 2024. In 2022, Hughes subjected one woman to a sustained campaign of abuse, including threats and controlling behaviour over various aspects of her life. On 26 July 2024, while staying at a hotel in London with a second woman, he accused her of involvement with other men, made threats to kill her, her friends and former partners, and later kicked the hotel door repeatedly, causing damage. The victim barricaded herself in the bathroom and contacted hotel security. Hughes subsequently attended her home uninvited on multiple occasions and subjected her to repeated abusive calls and messages.

In a victim impact statement, one of the women addressed Hughes directly, stating: "No one should be in fear of their life or the lives of others. No one should be made to feel the way I’ve felt…And whilst this part ends today, I’ll unfortunately always be left with what you did to me. Those scars run deep but after today you will never look at me again. So, hear me and know that what you did to me doesn’t define me. My strength does."

Investigating Officer Detective Constable Whibley of Surrey Police said: "This was a deeply distressing case involving two victims who showed considerable strength and courage in coming forward and supporting this investigation. Violence of this nature has a lasting impact. Our priority throughout has been to support the victims and ensure their voices were heard. I hope this outcome demonstrates that offences of this nature will be thoroughly investigated and offenders will be brought to justice."

The case was prosecuted by Surrey Police and heard at Guildford Crown Court.
