Full Description

Herjit Singh, a 38-year-old man from Orchard Street in Kempston, was sentenced at Stevenage Magistrates' Court for committing three sexual assaults by touching against women on buses in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.

The assaults occurred on 16 September 2024, 16 January 2025, and 22 January 2025. In each incident, Singh targeted women while they were travelling on public buses in the Hitchin area, engaging in unwanted touching that constituted sexual assault. Following the third incident, Singh was arrested on 24 January 2025 and subsequently charged with the offences.

Singh pleaded guilty to all three charges during his court appearance on 26 November 2025. He was also required to pay £850 in compensation to the victims, £400 in costs, and a £114 victim surcharge.

Detective Constable Lea Pennington from the North Herts Criminal Investigation Department commented on the case, stating: "Behaviours such as those shown by Singh in these incidents will not be tolerated and those who think it is acceptable to commit such crimes will be brought to justice."
