Offence Summary

Leof Sceaga was charged with possessing and making indecent images of children, breaching a sexual harm prevention order, and possessing extreme pornography shortly after the order was imposed.

Full Description

A 57-year-old man from near Cardigan in west Wales has been charged with multiple child sex offences involving indecent images, just weeks after being made subject to a sexual harm prevention order.

Leof Sceaga, of Cysgod Y Cwm, outside Cardigan, appeared before Llanelli Magistrates' Court on December 19, 2023, accused of breaching the court order imposed at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on November 4, 2023. The order was part of measures related to his status on the sex offender register. Prosecutors alleged that Sceaga failed to notify police about a mobile phone and a bank account he was using, in violation of the notification requirements.

Further charges included possession of three Category A, three Category B, and three Category C indecent images of children on May 8, 2023, in Haverfordwest. He was also accused of two counts of making indecent images of children, both involving one Category C image, on December 9 and December 12, 2023, in St Dogmaels. Additionally, Sceaga faced a charge of possessing an extreme pornographic image on May 8, 2023, depicting a person performing a sex act with a dog.

The case was committed to Swansea Crown Court for further proceedings. Sceaga was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear on January 19, 2024, to enter his pleas. Dyfed-Powys Police are handling the investigation, as indicated by the context of the west Wales courts and locations involved.

This incident highlights ongoing enforcement of sexual harm prevention orders in the region, with Sceaga's alleged actions occurring both before and immediately after the order's imposition.
