Full Description

Edwin Timewell, 58, of Essex Road, Stamford, Lincolnshire, appeared before Cambridge Crown Court on 29 April 2025 where he was sentenced to two years' imprisonment after pleading guilty to assaulting a girl under 13 by touching.

The offence occurred at approximately 10am on 21 December 2024 at a house in Peterborough. Timewell sexually touched the girl, who immediately alerted her parents. Police were called and Timewell admitted to officers that he had touched the girl, stating he did not know what he was doing.

On 29 April 2025, Judge at Cambridge Crown Court sentenced Timewell to two years in custody. He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register until January 2036 and received sexual harm prevention and restraining orders until April 2036.

Detective Sergeant Steph Parker of Cambridgeshire Constabulary said: "Timewell claimed he didn't know what he was doing in that moment but offences like this can have huge impacts on victims and their families and that is reflected in the sentence given by the court."

The case was prosecuted by Cambridgeshire Constabulary and heard at Cambridge Crown Court.
