Full Description

Philip Jones, 59, from Poulton Road, Seacombe, raped and molested a little girl who had just been sick, under the pretence of comforting her. This abuse, which occurred prior to his 2013 arrest, only came to light in May 2020 when the victim revealed the trauma she had endured for nearly a decade.

A former soldier, Jones had a history of sexual offences, including being caught spiking a woman's drink at a Wirral pub in 2013 with intent to assault her, and downloading child sex abuse images, for which he was jailed for five years with an extended three years on licence in 2014. In December 2020, he was returned to jail for concealing a mobile phone while working as a maintenance man in family homes.

Jones admitted two counts of rape and two counts of sexual assault at Liverpool Crown Court. He was sentenced to 13 and a half years in prison with an extended five years on licence. The Liverpool Echo's 17 July 2021 coverage detailed his repeated dangerous behaviour towards women and children.
