Full Description

Simon Evans, a 56-year-old resident of Weymouth in Dorset, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison following a guilty plea to charges of rape and multiple sexual assaults. The offences occurred during the evening of Friday, 20 June 2025, extending into the early hours of Saturday, 21 June 2025, at an address in Weymouth.

The victim was unconscious throughout the assault, which Evans subjected her to in a prolonged and violent manner. During the incident, Evans photographed and filmed the assault, documenting the entire ordeal. Subsequently, he threatened to share the intimate footage with other individuals, exacerbating the victim's trauma.

The matter was reported to Dorset Police on Sunday, 22 June 2025. That same evening, Evans was arrested and taken into custody. A detailed investigation followed, involving forensic examination of Evans's phone, searches of his address, DNA sampling, and analysis of the footage. Although the victim felt unable to support the investigation directly, detectives gathered sufficient evidence to proceed.

Evans was charged with one count of rape, one count of sexual assault, and 11 counts of sexual assault by penetration. He appeared at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday, 20 March 2026, where he pleaded guilty to all charges. In addition to the 12-year custodial sentence, he received an extended licence period of three years and was placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely.

Police Staff Investigator Samantha Sheppard of Dorset Police commented on the case, stating: 'Simon Evans subjected the victim to a prolonged and horrific sexual assault and documented the entire ordeal, all while she was unconscious. Detectives worked extremely hard to gather enough evidence to ensure Evans could be held accountable for his appalling and contemptible actions.' The investigation underscored Dorset Police's commitment to tackling violence against women and girls, even in cases where victims are unable to participate fully.
