Full Description

A man from Dibden Purlieu has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison following his conviction for a series of historical child sex offences. Jack William Douglas Lowe, aged 26, of Depden Gardens, was found guilty at Southampton Crown Court on 21 January 2022 of 10 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, two counts of attempted rape of a child under 13, one count of attempted sexual activity with a child, and one count of raping a girl under 13.

The offences, which took place between 2010 and 2011, were perpetrated against three young victims at various addresses in the East Boldre area of Hampshire. These non-recent crimes involved severe sexual abuse, highlighting the long-term impact on the victims who bravely came forward years later to report the incidents.

On 16 February 2022, Lowe was sentenced at the same court to a total of six and a half years' imprisonment. In addition to the custodial sentence, he was ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely. The case was investigated by Hampshire Constabulary's specialist Amberstone Unit, which played a crucial role in gathering evidence and securing the conviction.

Detective Constable Donna Kay of Hampshire Constabulary commented on the sentencing, stating: “We hope that today’s sentencing has provided Lowe’s victims some element of closure, knowing that he has been sentenced for the truly harrowing offences he committed against them. While the ordeals that they suffered at the hands of Lowe will undoubtedly remain with them, we again would like to praise their courage in coming forward and reporting these incidents to our officers.” She further praised the victims' bravery in supporting the prosecution and providing vital evidence at court, describing their actions as remarkable given their young age at the time of the offences.

DC Kay also emphasised the dedication of the investigating officers, noting: “A thorough investigation by Hampshire Constabulary’s specialist Amberstone Unit has today resulted in a serial sexual offender being brought to justice. I would also like to thank those officers who worked alongside the victims for their dedication to compiling vital evidence and information, enabling us to secure a conviction.” The case underscores the police force's commitment to pursuing justice for victims of child sexual abuse, regardless of when the crimes occurred.
