Offence Summary

Rajae Paul built a relationship with a 14-year-old girl online using a fake name and age, then violently raped her in Peel Park, Bradford. He was sentenced to 13 years in jail, a 25-year sexual harm prevention order, and lifelong registration on the sex offenders register.

Full Description

Rajae Paul groomed a 14-year-old girl through Snapchat and Instagram, fabricating an identity by claiming to be a 16-year-old boy under a false name. After establishing this deceptive online relationship, he arranged to meet her in Bradford on June 5, where he took her to Peel Park and subjected her to a violent rape. This case exemplifies the perils of online grooming, where predators exploit social media to target children.

West Yorkshire Police investigated following reports from the victim and her family, tracing Paul's communications and movements. The trial at Bradford Crown Court revealed the manipulative tactics Paul employed, including the use of fake profiles to gain the girl's trust. Evidence from digital forensics played a crucial role in building the prosecution's case.

Sentenced in September 2025, Paul received 13 years' imprisonment, a sexual harm prevention order lasting 25 years, and was required to sign the sex offenders register for life. YorkshireLive's coverage included details of the court's condemnation of Paul's actions, stressing the need for online safety education. A police image was released to aid public awareness.
