David Marsh, a 70-year-old man from Windsor Road, Conisbrough, Doncaster, has been jailed for 13 years following his conviction on serious child sex offences committed in Skegness, Lincolnshire. The case, which came to light through the courageous testimony of the victim, highlights the ongoing efforts by Lincolnshire Police to combat child sexual exploitation in the region.

The offences occurred between July 2016 and July 2019. Marsh was found guilty of sexual assault of a child by touching, attempted rape of a child, assault by penetration, and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. These acts took place in Skegness, a coastal town in Lincolnshire, where the perpetrator targeted a young victim. The investigation was led by Lincolnshire Police, who praised the victim's bravery in coming forward.

Marsh appeared at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday, 19 September 2025, for sentencing. In addition to the 13-year custodial sentence, he was made the subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, designed to protect the public from further harm. Acting Detective Sergeant David Ziller of Lincolnshire Police commented on the case, stating: "The victim showed great courage in speaking out and hopefully this conclusion goes some way to provide the justice they deserve. Credit is due to all the people who have been involved in this investigation for supporting it from the start. This is another example of an offender being brought to justice, and a time to encourage any person who may have suffered abuse to come forward, in the faith that their voice will be heard and they will be believed."
