Offence Summary

Martin Tidder committed multiple sexual offences against boys, including rape, assault by touching, and inciting sexual activity. He was convicted at Hull Crown Court and jailed for 15 years.

Full Description

Martin Tidder, a 36-year-old man from Hull, was sentenced at Hull Crown Court on Friday, 13 February 2026, following a trial where he was found guilty of serious sexual offences against boys. The charges included four counts of rape, five counts of assaulting a boy by touching, four counts of causing or inciting a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and one count of sexual assault of a child.

The offences spanned several years and involved multiple victims. Humberside Police detailed that Tidder showed one victim 'cartoon porn' and on one occasion woke the boy up to sexually assault him. Another victim reported being raped by Tidder on a regular basis over an 11-year period. A third victim came forward with similar allegations shortly after the initial reports, as stated by the police force.

In a statement issued by Humberside Police, one of the victims shared their experience: 'Some men never share their abuse, some reveal it on their deathbed, I want to change that. I want to stand by those boys and tell them it is okay to speak out.' The victim continued: 'Martin made me feel complicit without understanding what was happening or why it was bad, and I had to compartmentalise. It's as though I always knew, even then, how wrong it was but without the developed mind and emotional understanding to know how to cope with it. Hopefully, once this is all settled I can rebuild myself and shape my future to eradicate this black cloud.'

Detective Constable Rebecca Davison of Humberside Police described Tidder as a 'sordid individual' and emphasised the force's commitment to pursuing justice for victims of sexual offences, whether recent or historical. The court imposed a 15-year custodial sentence on Tidder and ordered him to remain on the sex offenders register for life.
