Full Description

Mitchell Hickey, 25, from the Tunbridge Wells area, Kent, was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court for nine sex offences committed between 2017 and 2019 while working as an instructor at an equestrian school. He targeted two young girls with physical assaults, including hitting one with a whip, and bombarded them with indecent videos via Snapchat, which auto-deletes messages.

Hickey also coerced a third victim into sending explicit photos. Police were alerted in January 2022 by a concerned ex-member of the school fearing for other vulnerable girls. Investigation of his devices led to charges of sexual assault, sexual activity with a child, and sexual communication with a child. He initially denied but pleaded guilty to seven offences.

On September 22, 2025, Hickey was jailed for three years and four months and made subject to a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order. The court highlighted his exploitation of his position to groom and abuse the girls over several years.
