Full Description

Adrian Rihard Demeter, 22, from Burton-upon-Trent, was imprisoned for seven and a half years on 28 July 2022 at Stafford Crown Court for child sexual offences. He was one of seven men arrested on 19 December 2018 following an investigation by Staffordshire Police's Child Protection and Exploitation Team into the exploitation of three 13-year-old girls in the area between May and September 2018. The convictions were secured across two trials in June 2021 and February 2022 due to the number of accused.

Demeter was found guilty of raping a girl aged 13 to 15 and committing sexual assault on a child. The offences formed part of a broader pattern of abuse against vulnerable teenagers. Staffordshire Police highlighted the victims' resilience, with Detective Sergeant Julie Pointon remarking: “We welcome these sentences and I would like to pay tribute to the girls’ incredible bravery in coming forward initially and throughout this long and complex investigation.”

The total jail time for the group reached 51 years, demonstrating the court's firm stance. As Detective Constable Darren Mattocks noted: “We remained focused on seeking justice and providing support to the victims, who remained our first priority.” Reported by Staffordshire Police on 2 August 2022, this case emphasises the importance of thorough police work in protecting children from sexual exploitation.
