Offence Summary

Lee Robert Wilson was convicted of three counts of indecent assault on a child under 16 and jailed for six and a half years for sexually abusing a girl in the late 1990s.

Full Description

A man from Waterlooville has been sentenced to over six years in prison for historical child sex offences committed in the late 1990s. Lee Robert Wilson, aged 49, of Wait End Road, was found guilty following a trial at Portsmouth Crown Court.

The abuse was first reported to Hampshire Constabulary in October 2017 by the victim, who was an adult woman at the time of reporting. She detailed how Wilson had sexually abused her on multiple occasions at his home when she was under the age of 16. The incidents occurred in the late 1990s, marking a period of non-recent child abuse that required a thorough investigation by officers.

Following a lengthy and complex probe, Wilson was charged with three counts of indecent assault on a child under 16. The case proceeded to trial at Portsmouth Crown Court on 29 March 2022, where a jury unanimously convicted him. On 7 April 2022, Wilson returned to the same court for sentencing, where Judge [name not specified] imposed a custodial term of six and a half years. Additionally, he was made subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order to protect the public from further risk.
