Offence Summary

A prolific paedophile, he was jailed for over two years for possessing extreme pornography showing interference with a human corpse.

Full Description

Nathaniel Humphreys, described by authorities as a "prolific" paedophile, was sentenced to more than two years in prison at Basildon Crown Court on 4th June. The sentencing followed his conviction for possessing illegal pornography that depicted interference with a human corpse.

The court heard that Humphreys, a serially convicted sex offender from Southend-on-Sea in Essex, was caught with the extreme material after an investigation by Essex Police. Officers discovered the prohibited images on his devices, which included content of a grotesque and illegal nature.

Humphreys had previously been convicted of sexual offences, and the judge labelled him a danger to the public. The prosecution outlined the disturbing nature of the images, noting that they violated the Obscene Publications Act. No other charges were detailed in the hearing.

Following his arrest, Humphreys was remanded in custody until sentencing. The judge imposed a custodial term of more than two years, along with an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and a requirement to sign the sex offenders' register for life. Essex Police stated that they remain committed to tackling online child abuse and extreme pornography.
