Full Description

Between 1998 and 2005, a grooming gang in Oxford, including Kameer Iqbal, targeted and sexually exploited teenage girls aged 13 to 15. The men used manipulative methods like flattery, supplying drugs and alcohol, and resorting to threats and violence to ensure compliance, forcing victims into sexual acts with multiple perpetrators.

Kameer Iqbal, 39, of Dashwood Road, Oxford, was convicted of three counts of rape as part of the group's more than 20 offences. Judge Peter Ross, in his summing up at Oxford Crown Court, emphasised the normalisation of sexual abuse among the offenders and the vulnerability of the victims. The case, involving fear and violence, was reported by the BBC, highlighting the scale of the abuse.

The NSPCC noted the victims' resilience in speaking out against the gang's campaign of terror. Iqbal's conviction and sentencing were detailed in court records from March 2018.
