Cory Jones

Cory Jones, a 19-year-old resident of Rees Street in Treorchy, Rhondda Cynon Taf, was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court for a series of 69 sexual and related offences committed against minors throughout 2024. At the time of the offences, Jones was aged 17 and 18, and his actions involved 37 victims ranging from 10 to 16 years old. The case was investigated and prosecuted by South Wales Police, highlighting the severe risks posed by online predators to vulnerable children.

The charges brought against Jones encompassed a range of serious sexual crimes, including sexual communications with a child, causing a child to watch a sex act, causing a child to engage in sexual activity, causing or inciting penetration of the vagina, sharing intimate photographs without consent, blackmail, distributing indecent images, and possession of images. Jones deliberately targeted young girls on social media platforms, falsely representing his age and employing manipulative and deceptive tactics to exploit them for his own sexual gratification.

Detective Inspector Stuart Prendiville of South Wales Police commented on the gravity of the case, stating: 'Cory Jones deliberately targeted young women on social media, lying about his age and employing manipulative, deceptive tactics. His exploitation of vulnerable children for his own sexual gratification is a stark reminder of the dangers that exist online.' The sentencing on 17 October 2025 resulted in an eight-year custodial term, alongside the imposition of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placement on the Sex Offenders Register for life. This outcome underscores the commitment of South Wales Police to pursuing and bringing to justice those who perpetrate child sexual exploitation.

The offences occurred entirely within the United Kingdom, specifically in the South Wales region, with no international elements involved. The bravery of the victims in coming forward was acknowledged by authorities, contributing to the successful prosecution.
