Offence Summary

Lindsay Mobey sexually abused a young child while her partner filmed it, and the footage was shared online. She was sentenced to two years and one month in prison.

Full Description

Lindsay Mobey, a 34-year-old woman from Nottingham, participated in the sexual abuse of a young child in collaboration with her partner, Christopher Binch. Mobey carried out the abuse, which was filmed by Binch and subsequently shared online in a child abuse group. The case was uncovered through a National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation into online child exploitation.

Binch's arrest on 12th March 2022 led investigators to Mobey three days later, after identifying her distinctive tattoo in the abuse video. Examination of Binch's phone confirmed the involvement of both in producing and distributing the material. In November 2023, Mobey pleaded guilty to the sexual assault of a child under 13. The proceedings culminated at Leicester Crown Court in 2024, where she was sentenced to two years and one month in prison and placed on the sex offenders register for five years.

The child victim was safeguarded promptly by the NCA. Commenting on the case, Danny Waywell from the NCA said: 'Binch and Mobey worked together to sexually abuse a young child, which he filmed and shared with other paedophiles online. Their actions were calculated and abhorrent; exploiting this child to satisfy their own sexual gratifications and gain some horrific form of kudos among the like-minded online.' The agency reiterated its commitment to protecting children and prosecuting such offenders.
