Offence Summary

Lee Griezans strangled and sexually assaulted a woman at his home in Blackpool after they had spent the night together, leading to a seven-year jail sentence.

Full Description

Lee Griezans attacked a woman he had met the previous week, strangling and sexually assaulting her at his home in Blackpool on February 10, 2023. The pair had got along well initially, exchanging messages throughout the week before she visited him. They spent the night together, but the following morning, Griezans was downstairs drinking vodka, upset over bad news.

Preston Crown Court heard how the situation escalated violently, with Griezans assaulting her in a sudden and brutal manner. The victim suffered significant trauma from the unprovoked attack.

Griezans was jailed for seven years following the trial, where details of the incident were laid out, including his aggressive behaviour after what had seemed a consensual encounter. Lancashire Police investigated the case, bringing charges that reflected the severity of the sexual assault and strangulation.
