Full Description

An 18-year-old from Kingsley, Cheshire, named Jamie George, has been sentenced to 45 months in a young offender’s institution following his conviction for serious sexual offences against a teenage girl. The incident occurred in January 2024, when George, then aged 16, visited the victim at her home after arranging to meet her.

The court at Leicester Crown Court heard that the evening began with some consensual sexual activity. However, the victim repeatedly refused George’s requests for sexual intercourse. Despite her clear refusals, George proceeded to sexually assault her, rape her, and intentionally strangle her over the course of the evening and into the following morning. The victim first disclosed the crimes to a lecturer at her college later that month, who promptly reported the matter to the police.

Following the disclosure, George was arrested and interviewed by officers. During the interview, he admitted to some consensual sexual activity but denied engaging in intercourse or strangulation. Police presented evidence from social media messages exchanged between George and the victim, which appeared to show him admitting to the offences and apologising for his actions. Charges were brought against George in December 2024. He pleaded not guilty to all charges but was found guilty after standing trial on 22nd October 2025.

On 19th November 2025, George was handed his sentence at Leicester Crown Court. In addition to the 45-month custodial term, he was placed on the sex offenders register for life and made subject to a lifelong restraining order preventing any contact with the victim. Detective Constable Lewis McMenamin of Leicestershire Police praised the victim’s bravery, stating: “Firstly and most importantly, I must praise the victim in this case for her courage in reliving her ordeal. Her evidence was significant in securing this conviction, and I hope today’s outcome provides her with a degree of relief and closure.”

DC McMenamin further highlighted the profound impact of the incident on the victim, noting changes in her behaviour as described by her friend and mother, and emphasised the lasting consequences for George as a convicted criminal serving time in custody. The case was reported by Alex Corns for Rayo Greatest Hits East Midlands News on 21st November 2025.
