Gary Bushnall, a 52-year-old convicted sex offender from Leven Road, Norton, Stockton, was jailed at Teesside Crown Court for 12 months after breaching his sexual harm prevention order and sex offender registration requirements. Bushnall was found in possession of an Xbox with an online account and initially claimed it belonged to his daughter. He also failed to disclose using the alias BEELZEBUB#3589 within three days of creating it. These breaches followed a suspended prison sentence imposed last summer for previous violations of orders from 2020.

The court heard Bushnall bought the Xbox to alleviate boredom, with limited family contact post-conviction. He pleaded guilty to breaching the SHPO and notification requirements after his arrest on April 2. Additionally, he admitted to two charges of causing/inciting a girl to engage in a sex act and one of attempting to cause a child to watch a sex act.

Judge Richard Bennett accepted no child abuse images or contact with children were found but noted Bushnall remained a high risk to children. He sentenced him for the breaches and activated the suspended sentence, emphasising the ongoing protective measures.
